Resins for Making Furniture Covers
Looking for recycled resin material for making furniture covers?
We purchase post industrial scrap, reprocess it and sell it to plastic manufacturers or making furniture covers. As a plastic recycler, we recover post industrial materials
for a variety of plastic sheeting products made using the extrusion or injection
molding processes, i.e., furniture covers. Our linear low density polyethylene: NPI – 01LL/LD Mixed
Color
is made from recycled plastic and is a popular resin for making plastic furniture covers. If you make furniture covers
and need a viable alternative or supplement to virgin resin, we carry a full supply of polyethylene and are prepared to offer you the lowest cost performance available.
What are Furniture Covers?
Furniture covers are thin clear sheets of plastic used for protecting furniture while in transit or in storage from moisture, dust, dirt, sand and other stains. They are usually delivered in rolls and are perforated between sections making them easy to separate. They are also typically individually wrapped against dust and other contamination while in storage. They are made with linear low density resins for exceptional tensile strength and tear resistance. They can also be made using hdpe resins if necessary. Furniture covers are available in a variety of formats including large rolls of film as single wound sheeting, u-film and tubing.
Benefits and Properties of Furniture Covers
The benefits of plastic furniture covers over other covering products are worth noting. Plastic furniture covers are more flexible than other materials, i.e., cardboard or vinyl,
because they provide a better moisture barrier, have a higher resistance to tear propagation,
and offer greater protection due to their advanced sealing properties. Their durability makes it possible to reuse them time and again. As a kind of packaging material, furniture covers performs several functions:
1. Keeps furniture and cushions dry and free of dust.
2. Provides protection for outdoor furniture including patio and lawn furniture.
3. Provides protection of indoor furniture while in storage.
Applications
The main purpose of furniture covers is to protect furniture from being damaged by moisture, dust, dirt and other elements. Protection for outdoor furniture is one of their major functions. Applications include:
- Covering for patio furniture.
- Covering of outdoor furniture from weather related damage.
- Covering for lawn furniture.
- Covering for wicker patio.
Choosing the Right Resin for Furniture Covers
Part of our plastic recycling service involves helping you to choose the right resin for the job. Making the right choice requires an understanding how certain properties of the resin can affect the process of making plastic sheeting products and the quality of the furniture covers themselves. The most important
property of our low and high density polyethylene polymers is relevant to the process itself. The melt index describes the flow behavior that can be expected
during processing. If you're looking for resin to use in blow molding,
film extrusion, pipe and profile extrusion processes, the lower the melt
index, the greater the melt strength will be. If you're looking for resins
for your injection molding process, a higher melt index will mean a faster
melt flow which helps to fill the mold cavities in shorter period of time.
