ldpe recyclingLDPE Plastic Recycling

Nexcycle Plastics manufacturers LDPE or low density polyethylene for film and pipe applications. As a ldpe recycling company, we manufacture ldpe resins from postindustrial recycled scrap LDPE for a variety of products made using the extrusion or injection molding processes, i.e., plastic film, pipe, bottles, bottle caps and bags. We specialize in LDPE compounds used for pipe and injection molding applications. Our signature product, NPI – 01LL/LD Mixed Color is manufactured from recycled low density polyethylene. It may be used for film or pipe extrusion where recycled materials are permitted. NPI – 01LL/LD Mixed Color is especially suitable for trash bags and flexible pipe applications.

Low Density Polyethylene Film and Pipe
Polyolefins such as low density polyethylene play a major role in the manufacturing of plastic film and pipe. While LDPE takes up a major part of the film and piping markets, high density polyethylene and polypropylene are by no means only minor players. LDPE was the first grade of polyethylene ever made. Indeed, the industrial history of polyolefins began in 1937, when Imperial Chemical Industries Ltd patented the LDPE production by applying the high pressure radical process to the ethylene molecule. Low density polyethylene was first used as insulating material for underwater cables and later, for radar. It was first produced as a polyethylene film by calendering of a polyethylene-polyisobutyleen blend, and by extrusion in 1946.

LDPE Properties
LDPE is flexible, and yet tough enough that it is hard to break. It has more molecular branching than high density polyethylene which makes it weaker, not as tightly packed, less crystalline and, as a result, not as dense as HDPE. It has excellent chemical resistance to concentrated acids, can withstand temperatures as high as 80 °C.

  • Excellent resistance to acids, bases and vegetable oils
  • Toughness, flexibility and relative transparency (good combination of properties for packaging applications requiring heat-sealing)

LDPE Applications
LDPE or low density polyethylene is an economical option for many applications requiring low temperature flexibility, toughness and durability. LDPE is widely used in the transportation of air, water and chemicals. It is used predominately in film applications due to its toughness, flexibility and relative transparency, making it popular for use in applications where heat sealing is necessary. LDPE also is used to manufacture some flexible lids and bottles as well as in wire and cable applications.

LDPE is a very popular packaging polymer. It can be used for manufacturing various containers, from bottles to plastic bags. Its most popular use is in plastic bags. Our recycled LDPE resin can be used to make bags for dry cleaning, newspapers, bread, frozen foods, fresh produce, and household garbage. It's also used to make shrink wrap, stretch film, coatings for paper milk cartons, hot and cold beverage cups, container lids, toys, and squeezable bottles, i.e., honey and mustard. In addition to packaging, LDPE's major uses are in injection molding applications, adhesives and sealant, and wire and cable coverings.
