pallet coversResins For Making Pallet Covers

When we buy plastic scrap, we recycle it for making a host of innovative products such as pallet covers. As a plastic recycler, we recover plastic materials for a wide assortment of packaging products including pallet covers. Our resins, NPI – 04HDPE Mixed Color and NPI – 01LL/LD Mixed Color are all recovered from plastic scrap and are perfectly suited for making plastic coverings for products on a pallet. If you manufacture pallet covers and can't afford to rely solely on virgin resins, we can offer you a reliable source of recycled plastic resins from several well placed locations across North America.

What are Pallet Covers?
Pallet covers are thin sheets of plastic material that are used to cover loaded pallets. They can also be used as large box liners or as liners for a pallet. They are designed to help prevent dust, temperature extremes, dirt and moisture from falling on top of the loaded goods. They are especially useful in covering items such as foodstuffs, meat products and electronic assemblies. Pallet covers can also be molded into shrink wrap and can later be recycled for other purposes. The covers can be neatly tucked under the pallet and stapled or fixed with adhesive tape. They are also commonly used when moving processed, baked, cooked and fried food products. Fabricated to fit specific dimensions, pallet covers offer many advantages over simple tarps or sheeting and are very durable for excellent reusability. Completely weatherproof protection that saves time, labor and money.

Benefits and Purpose of Pallet Covers
Pallet covers are an ideal solution for product protection and limited storage space. Industrial covers and industrial tarps are used to protect machinery, pallets, and building materials from exposure to weather, sunlight, and other environmental conditions. Covers can consist of rigid metal sheet, a flexible textile or a semi-flexible plastic. There are many different types of products. Poly covers and poly tarps are lightweight, resistant to moisture, and fairly inexpensive. Made from strands of polyethylene, they are tough and can be used over and over again. As a kind of packaging material, pallet covers serves a variety of functions:

  • Preventing pallets from touching each other.
  • Reduces the risk of the products leaking while they are being be moved around.
  • Will keep products fresh such as perishables food items like fruit and vegetables. They do this by reflecting heat and protecting the pallet materials from extreme temperature variations.
  • Save valuable warehouse space as the pallets are now protected enough to be stored outdoors.
  • Provide for customer and worker safety as it’s less likely that anyone will find themselves tripping over wood splinters and loose boards.

Applications
Pallet covers were designed to protect valuable shipments from transportation mishaps and damage from the elements. They can protect your product from rain, high winds and snow, and are stabilized against ultraviolet light degradation. They are also ideal for reducing cargo waste and will protect temperature sensitive items. Other uses for pallet covers include:

  • Will hang in the back of trucks to prevent weather and road elements from damaging loads.
  • Can cover surfaces while painting, moving, refinishing, or assembly.
  • Use with stretch wrap machines to cover tops of loads.

Choosing the Right Resin for Pallet Covers
Selecting the right resin for making pallet covers involves knowing what the most important properties of the resin, how these properties are suited for a molding process and the type of plastic sheeting. The most important property of our polymers concerns how suited the resin is for the molding process. The melt index describes the flow behavior that can be expected during processing. If you're looking for resin to use in blow molding, film extrusion, pipe and profile extrusion processes, the lower the melt index, the greater the melt strength will be. If you're looking for resins for your injection molding process, a higher melt index will mean a faster melt flow which helps to fill the mold cavities in shorter period of time.
