Resins
For Making Plastic Bags
Nexcycle recycles scrap plastic for making poly or plastic
bags. Once collected and sorted, these plastic bags are processed into
small pellets, flakes or film and sold to manufacturers, which then are used
it to create new plastic products including more bags. We reprocess plastic
bags and any post industrial scrap generated during the process of making
them. Our polyethylene's, NPI – 04HDPE Mixed Color and
NPI – 01LL/LD Mixed Color are made from recycled
scrap plastic and are well suited for making plastic bags. As a leading
plastic recycler, we have an well stocked supply of recycled polyolefin's and
are fully prepared to offer you the lowest cost performance solutions
available.
Why Plastic Bags?
An important part of flexible packaging, plastic or poly bags are typically
made with polyolefins including low and high density polyethylene. Defined as
a type of flexible packaging container made of thin, flexible plastic,
plastic bags cover a broad range of products from ziploc bags to retail bags,
gusseted, garment, trash or garbage bags, liners, covers and even low and hi
density T-Shirt bags. Used as a container for protecting and selling a
product, it is their convenience, reusability and sealing or storage ability
of plastic bags that makes them so popular. Their main function is to carry
or hold all types of products and to protect what they carry or to protect the
surrounding environment from what they contain, i.e., chemicals and waste.
The plastic bag is so popular that it has almost eliminated the need for
paper bags.
Benefits of Plastic Bags
The benefits of plastic bags are many and varied. More flexible and durable
than paper, plastic also provides a better moisture and chemical barrier,
higher resistance to tear propagation, and offers greater protection due to
its advanced sealing properties. Poly bags are made from light, medium and
high density polyethylene, and polypropylene. Light, but strong and durable,
poly bags have made it possible to move and store more goods than ever
before. And because of their advanced sealing properties, plastic bags make
it possible to handle waste and other hazardous material without any threat
to the surrounding environment.
Resin Properties For Plastic Bags
Key processing and physical properties for our specialty polymers and resins
include melt flow index (MFI), density and izod impact properties. They are
key indicators of what the melt strength and flow will be for processing. If
you're looking for resin to use in blown film or cast film molding processes,
the lower the melt index, the greater the melt strength will be. At the same
time, a higher melt index means a faster melt flow which helps to fill the
mold cavities in shorter period of time. High density polyethylene is often
used to create bags that are stronger and have less clarity than lower
densities of polyethylene. On the other hand, bags made using low density polyethylene
will have more clarity, but are not as strong as high density polyethylene
bags.

Applications for Recycled Plastic Bags
Polyolefins are the most versatile resin available. As recyclers and
suppliers of resins for making poly bags, our products are used for a wide
range of packaging applications including bags, luggage, carpeting, fiber,
strapping, containers, wrapping and tubing. Because of their unique
properties, our recycled polyolefins are used by a wide range of industries
from food processing to industrial packaging, and sanitation. Most of these
products are created using blown and cast film molding processes and range
from flat poly bags to drum liners, pallet covers, gaylord box liners,
mattress covers, and auto seat covers.
