Slip
Sheet Resins
Polyethylene slip sheets are a relatively new material handling
solution for transporting products in a warehouse environment. At Nexcycle
Plastics, we sell recycled hdpe processed from post industrial scrap for
making slip sheet or slipsheets. As a plastic recycler,
we recycle plastic scrap for a variety of products made using the extrusion
or injection molding processes, i.e., slip sheets. Our recycled high density
polyethylene - NPI – 04HDPE Mixed Color, is
fast becoming the most popular material for slip sheets. As a leading
manufacturer of recycled hdpe, we have a substantial supply of hdpe and are
well placed to offer you the lowest cost alternative to virgin hdpe.
What is a Slip Sheet?
Slip Sheets are thin plastic sheets roughly the same size as a pallet used
for shipping goods. Also called plastic pallets, these sheets often feature a
coated upper surface that holds the load in place and a rough bottom surface
that reduces movement for easier handling. Items are placed on the slip
sheets which can have short panels or tabs that can be grabbed by a
specialized push-pull attachment on a forklift. A forklift drags the load
onto the sheet and places it into a truck. Once the pallets arrive at their
destination the process is reversed.
Why Slip Sheets?
Slipsheets are quickly replacing pallets for several reasons. Like a wooden
pallet, they serve as a platform for work-in-progress and storage
applications. They are fully recyclable and provide an environmentally
friendly alternative to wooden or cardboard pallets. Slip sheets can be
manufactured to fit any unique situation. They usually vary in length and
width up to 60 inches and they come in thicknesses ranging from 0.02 to 0.25
inches. Made mostly from recycled high density polyethylene or hdpe, they can
handle loads up to 2400 lbs.
Resin Properties
The main property of our recycled hdpe as a slip sheet material is its melt
index flow. This value defines the ability of polyethylene to flow. Generally,
the higher the melt index the easier the material will flow. At the same
time, however, a higher or lower melt index has a direct influence on the
propeties of the plastic material itself. When it comes to making slip
sheets, stiffness, tensile strength, hardness and toughness are often
preferred requiring a lower melt index. The properties of our products are

Advantages
Slip sheets are much more environmentally friendly than pallets. They
also cost much less than wooden pallets. They only weigh 2lbs compared to a
50lb pallet and will take up less space. They are also much friendlier to the
products they carry since they don't have popped up nails and wood splinters
that come with a wooden pallet. They are non-absorbent, washable and can be
custom ordered. Other benefits include:
- Bacteria Resistant
- Non-porous-no bacteria
growth or insect larvae
- High Tensile Strength
(Pull Resistance)
- Hygienic Washable
Platform
- More Shipping Space
- More Warehouse Space
- Less expensive than
wood pallets
- 100% reusable and recyclable
Applications
Polyolefin plastic slipsheets or pallets can be used to protect and
transport many different kinds of goods and products. They can be used for
bagged products, wet or frozen materials and cased goods. As a kind of
transportation packaging, slipsheets are used for protecting sensitive cargo
in warehouses, shipping depots and cargo centers.
